The basics
What is Plyb TV?
Plyb TV is a platform for managing screen networks from a single dashboard. It lets you monitor their status, run actions remotely, schedule operations, manage permissions and publish content.
It's designed for organisations with screens spread across different sites (hospitals, public administrations, large companies) and it's installed on the customer's own infrastructure (on-premise). On compatible screens it also protects the device itself: it locks the remote, USB ports and menus, keeps firmware up to date and automatically renews the admin PIN and web panel password. It's developed by Plyb, a Spanish software company.
Plyb is the company; Plyb TV is its first product. Plyb is a Spanish company that develops software for businesses and large organisations, and Plyb TV is the centralised screen management platform it has built.
It is, first and foremost, a device management and control platform, with digital signage built into the same dashboard. Many tools focus on one of the two: publishing content or controlling the device.
In Plyb TV, each screen's record brings together its status, its security, its schedules, its permissions and the content it shows. There's no need to run two tools or reconcile two inventories for the same screen.

Compatibility
I have consumer LG TVs and LG Signage displays. Can I manage them all with the same software?
Yes: both LG lines are managed from the same Plyb TV dashboard, though with different reach on each. LG WebOS Signage professional displays support more features: power on, power off, volume, input, brightness, rotation, language, NTP time, schedules and device security (locks, firmware, certificates, PIN and web panel password). The Plyb TV app is installed on them.
On consumer LG WebOS TVs, Plyb TV uses the network control built into the TV itself, with no app to install. It goes as far as the TV allows from outside (power on, power off, volume, input switching and showing content), and powering on over the network needs Wake-on-LAN enabled.
Does it work with screens that aren't LG: Samsung, Philips or Sony?
Not yet. During the beta, Plyb TV manages LG WebOS Signage displays and LG TVs running WebOS, and we've already started developing other brands.
If you have Samsung, Philips or Sony screens and want to try Plyb TV, tell us which models and how many screens you have: requests from organisations in the beta help us decide the order of the next integrations.
Yes, as long as the screen is on a network that allows waking it up: power-off is sent directly, and power-on uses Wake-on-LAN, which has to be enabled both on the TV and on the network equipment.
Because Plyb TV is installed on your network, it talks directly to each screen, with no cloud intermediary. It also distinguishes between switching the TV off and switching off just the panel, so you can choose what you need in each case.
And when you send the command to a whole group, Plyb TV confirms the result screen by screen instead of saying “sent”. It's the difference between knowing that 14 of 15 screens switched on and hearing from a user that the fifteenth was still off.

Versus the alternatives
How is it different from the cloud platforms offered by the screen manufacturer itself?
Mainly in where it's installed and which devices it covers. Tools tied to a manufacturer may limit management to the devices in their own ecosystem; Plyb TV aims to centralise management of different compatible ranges in a single dashboard.
On top of that, Plyb TV is installed on your servers and manages compatible screens without going through a third party's cloud. It's a particularly good fit when the organisation's data must stay on its network, when consumer TVs coexist with professional displays, or when per-site permissions and security on the screens themselves are needed. In the demo we compare it with your current setup.
Which digital signage software should I choose if my data can't go to an external cloud?
You need an on-premise platform, and Plyb TV is one: the application, database and content files are installed on your organisation's infrastructure, with a single network entry point. The only connection to Plyb is license validation, always initiated by your server.
Many digital signage tools run as cloud services (SaaS): content, screen inventory and usage logs are hosted on a third party's servers. In healthcare, public administration and other sectors with data sovereignty requirements, this point often weighs as much as the features.
What happens if I switch screen brands in two years?
Plyb TV isn't tied to a manufacturer: it's designed so that every new brand we integrate is managed from the same dashboard, with the same content, groups, schedules and permissions. Today compatibility covers LG screens; if you're planning a change, tell us which brand you're considering.
With a platform tied to a manufacturer, adding screens from another brand can mean running two tools and two inventories.
If a screen breaks and I replace it, do I need to buy another license?
No. Licenses are per screen: you remove the broken one from the dashboard and that license becomes available for the new one, even if it's a different compatible range.
The new screen is added to the previous one's group and gets its content and schedules from the dashboard, without rebuilding the configuration from scratch.
How many screens before software like this is worth it?
When managing them by hand starts to require travel. With five screens in one building, a remote is usually enough; the need appears when there are several sites, or when the person who has to change something isn't where the screen is.
The other threshold is people and security: as soon as more than one team works with the screens, you need to know who can do what, what was changed, and that nobody can tamper with them from the device itself. That's where a spreadsheet and a messaging group stop being enough. If you're at that point, a demo will show what it would bring you for the size of your network.

Installation and security
Is Plyb TV in the cloud or installed on my servers?
It's installed on your organisation's servers. It isn't a third-party cloud service: the application, database and content live on your own infrastructure, with your corporate directory (LDAP) or with local users.
The only connection to Plyb is license validation, initiated by your server; our server never opens a connection to yours. The dashboard runs in the browser, so nothing has to be installed on the computers of the people who manage it.
What does Plyb TV do for the security of the screens themselves?
On LG WebOS Signage professional displays it locks the remote and physical keys, USB ports, menus, Wi-Fi settings and screen sharing, keeps firmware and trusted certificates up to date, and changes the admin PIN and web panel password of every screen from the dashboard.
If your organisation has security requirements for its devices, that PIN and password renew automatically at the interval you set, on models that support it.
If the management service stops, screens keep showing their content: the service that plays it keeps a copy and carries on serving it while things recover.
What stops is management: in the meantime you can't send commands, publish content or change schedules, and everything resyncs on its own when the service is back. Plyb TV is installed on a single server and doesn't include high availability: if the whole machine goes down, screens stop receiving content, and redundancy for that machine depends on your infrastructure. We'll go through it in the demo with your real topology.
Can I give one site access without opening up the whole screen network?
Yes: permissions are granted per screen or per group (a site's group, for instance), with edit or read-only access, and each person sees only what concerns them.
Identity comes from your corporate directory via LDAP, where everyone signs in with their usual credentials, or from the platform's own local users. You choose one of the two at installation; they can't be combined today.
Yes: relevant actions are logged with the person, date and result, and the history can be viewed from the dashboard and exported to PDF.
A limit worth knowing before you decide: it's a searchable, exportable action history, not a digitally signed audit or storage certified as tamper-proof. If your organisation needs that specific guarantee, raise it in the demo so we can assess it.

Content, languages and pricing
What can be shown on the screens?
Images, GIFs, video, a web page, a carousel and a text ticker, combined into a template that you assign from the dashboard to one screen, a group or all of them at once, whether LG Signage or LG WebOS TVs.
The template can be shown full screen, with zones for a carousel and a text ticker, or with a web page that enlarges when there is activity. The change applies instantly, without restarting the screen or travelling to it, and the same template can be scheduled to appear and disappear on its own at set times.
The interface is available in 10 languages (Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Japanese and Korean), and the language is chosen per user, not per installation.
On LG Signage professional displays the device's own language can also be changed remotely, something not available on consumer TVs.
How much does Plyb TV cost and how do I get it?
Plyb TV is in private beta. Licenses are priced per screen, and terms are set according to the size of the installation, the number of sites and the integration needs.
Request a demo and tell us how many screens you have, which models you use and how they're spread across your premises. That way we can assess compatibility and the scope of a possible rollout.
